Terms and Conditions

Stan Brown Voice & Performance Coaching

Effective Date: January 15th, 2026.

1. Nature of Services

Services offered through this website and by Stan Brown include voice coaching, performance coaching, educational instruction, workshops, and related professional services. These services are educational and performance-based, informed by research on breath, voice, and nervous system regulation.

While participants may experience changes in physical sensation, emotional state, or overall wellbeing as breathing patterns become more efficient, these outcomes are secondary effects of learning and practice. This work is not medical treatment or psychotherapy and does not diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any medical or psychological condition. It does not substitute for care provided by licensed health professionals.

2. Client Responsibility and Self-Assessment

Clients are responsible for determining that they are physically, emotionally, and medically fit to participate in voice, breath, and performance-based work. Stan Brown may ask questions or request written information to better understand a client’s background and to adapt instruction responsibly. This information is used solely for educational and performance purposes and does not constitute medical screening, diagnosis, or treatment.

Clients are responsible for disclosing any conditions, injuries, or limitations that may affect safe participation and acknowledge that Stan Brown relies on client self-report when guiding exercises and activities.

3. No Guarantees

Because learning, artistic development, and embodied coordination vary widely among individuals, no guarantees are made regarding outcomes, professional results, career advancement, or specific physical or emotional experiences.

Any examples or descriptions of potential benefits are illustrative only and do not constitute promises or assurances.

4. Scope of Relationship

The relationship between client and Stan Brown is that of coach/educator and participant, not therapist/patient, clinician/client, or employer/employee. Participation does not establish a healthcare, counseling, or fiduciary relationship.

Clients remain solely responsible for decisions made in their professional, artistic, or personal lives.

5. Sessions, Packages, and Workshops

Services may be offered as individual sessions, multi-session packages, or group workshops. All formats are governed by these Terms and Conditions unless otherwise stated in writing.

Participation in group workshops does not guarantee individualized attention beyond the stated scope of the offering.

6. Group Workshops and Movement-Based Work

Group workshops involve movement as an essential component of voice, breath, and performance work. Movement may include standing, walking, spatial exploration, or other forms of physical coordination designed to support embodied expression and vocal responsiveness.

The nature of movement-based work will be described in advance. Participants are responsible for communicating any physical limitations or conditions that may affect their ability to engage fully. Instruction will be adapted as appropriate in response to disclosed limitations; however, participation in movement-based exploration is a fundamental aspect of the work.

This work is educational and performance-based in nature and does not constitute medical treatment, physical therapy, or fitness training.

7. Scheduling, Cancellation, and Payment

Sessions must be canceled or rescheduled at least 24 hours in advance. Late cancellations or failure to attend a scheduled session (“no-shows”) will be charged in full.

Payment is due on the day of the session, either in advance or immediately following the session, via cash or approved electronic payment methods. Clients who fail to pay for a late-canceled or missed session will not be permitted to schedule future sessions until the outstanding balance is paid in full.

Exceptions may be granted at the sole discretion of Stan Brown in cases of unforeseen or extraordinary circumstances. Discretionary exceptions do not create precedent.

8. Recording of Sessions

Sessions are recorded by default for client reference and professional documentation. Recordings may be provided to the client as a video file or via a secure online platform.

Recordings may not be distributed, published, or shared without explicit written consent from both parties.

9. Work with Minors

When services are provided to minors, a parent or legal guardian must provide written consent and agree to these Terms and Conditions on the minor’s behalf. The parent or guardian remains responsible for the minor’s participation and wellbeing.

Communication and recording policies for minors will be clearly established in advance.

10. Intellectual Property

All materials, exercises, language, recordings, and instructional content provided by Stan Brown are protected intellectual property and remain his sole property unless otherwise agreed in writing.

Clients may use materials for personal practice only. Reproduction, distribution, publication, teaching, or commercial use of these materials without written permission constitutes a breach of this agreement and may result in legal action, including claims for damages and injunctive relief, under applicable law.

11. Governing Law

These Terms and Conditions are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Illinois.

12. Acceptance of Terms

By engaging services, scheduling sessions, or participating in workshops, clients acknowledge that they have read, understood, and agreed to these Terms and Conditions.
